Ballybunion Golf Club: The Course
Ballybunion Golf Club has two courses - the Old Course and the Cashen Course. The Old Course, founded in 1893, is the one that defines the club's reputation. It runs along the cliffs above the Shannon Estuary and the Atlantic, with elevated tees, blind shots, and fairways that fold through massive dunes. President Bill Clinton played here in 1998 - a visit that cemented Ballybunion's already considerable international profile. The Cashen Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., is more modern and also worth a round.
